Hmm, nothing against those early cars, but have you looked for a later model? One that came with a B230 to begin with? The first upgrade it would make sense to make would be: bigger engine, maybe with a performance cam.
86-88 cars are certainly cheap enough now, and generally a whole lot less rusty...
If you need a carb setup, a Canadian model intake and Stromberg carb arrangement will bolt on... more or less. You'll have a bunch of wires you no longer need...
