Preventative Maintenance ?'s 700 1990

I own a 1990 740 GLE 16 valve, it has 131,500 miles and is running great. However, I know there are a few things on this car which have never been replaced and I am wondering if replacing some of these working parts would be good preventative maintenance or a waste of money. My mechanic is from the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" school and thinks I'm crazy to spend money to replace parts that work fine. I on the other hand am worried about a 12-year-old alternator, fuel pumps, and iginition coil. Those are all things which have I have replaced on other cars I've owned. So I would like to hear from some of you on what you would recommend replacing or not replacing on my 1990 Volvo!!!
