Volvo 740 performance issues. 700

Hi everyone.
The 91' Volvo 740 non turbo is my first car:) and I am very
happy with it. However acceleration seems to be quite slow
and up hill climbs are very hard on it. I hear so many great
things about the 740turbo like a 50hp improvment over non
turbo. I was wondering what the difference is between non-turbo
and turbo, and if it is possible to upgrade without changing
the entire engine. Hope to hear from peoples.
