244 series 200 1991

I am considering the purchase of a 91 4 door that was purchased in England. The owner says it is a 244dl. My question is what engine would that have in it? Would it be a B230 or B234. The owner does not know which one it has. Another question, are there any trannys for that model that have problems. Stewart Whittier, swhitt3@netzero.net.
