turbo timing belt replacemant-special tool to hold harmonic balancer for nut bol removeal?

I was throwing on some new motor mounts due to oilpan resting on the cross member, that went well;about 1 hour total,so being ahead of schedule I was on my way to the timing belt, got all the covers off and unlike the non-turbo models I have done(b234f+B23)I found that the lower plastic cover won't come off with out the crank pulley out of the way,the dealer sells the tool for around 37$ to hold the pulley I think.I used to take subaru bolts out by bumping the starter and holding the crank nut with a beefy extension and breaker bar,I didn't want to risk any problems being new to the turbo engine.Any thoughts appreciated.
