240 random stalling 200

I have an '83 244 that has been randomly stalling now and then. It doesn't even misfire or give any indication of imminent stall, but rather dies and won't start until a random amount of time has passed (minutes, hours, or even days). I replaced the fuel pump relay, distributor cap/rotor, and cleaned the fuses and as many ground points as I could find. I get all sorts of advice: change the fuel filter, replace the coil, etc. Has anyone else had RANDOM SUDDEN DEATH and subsequent RESURRECTION? As this is my other Volvo, I have lots of time to tinker, so any advice is appreciated. Thanks
