i agree with your comments the rover 2 series is agood example took me an hour to find the horn
but to get back. the b23 of my old 245 seemed a far better engine the headlights were far better as well, just put almost illegal 100watts in my 740 and cleaned evrything up but the're still poor.
re: setting up the distributor, the problem is that with a distance of an inch (we ol codgers still use inches here) between the top of the flywheel pulley and the timing marks on the timing case, setting up with a strobe is just guesswork,i can only assume this to be a design fault as ive checked a few 740s here they are the same.
