ACC auto vent switching 700 1988

Another quirk with the 760TI is the climate control system. I understand that if I put all the controls on auto the air flow will be regulated as "Volvo" sees fit. If I put the control on upper air vents, should it the flow not stay through these (Dash) vents even when I accelerate. In auto during acceleration the flow will switch to the defrost/window vents. Is there ant way to increase the flow through the drivers side vent without closing off the others. If I remember there used to be good flow through it.

Thanks, Paul 88, 760TI, >350,000 km
