I wrote last night about the haunting problems Im having with the charging light, speedo and the transmission downshift gear.
My description from my last post is here: http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/?id=524970
Well, I got it cranked up, took it and had the battery and alternator thoroughly checked out and they are in excellent condition. While doing the checking I found that the fuse holder coming off of the positive terminal of the battery had disintegrated and the connection was loose on the battery. I rigged that to function until a permanent fix can happen. That seems to be where my starting problem was coming. Its fine now. What does that wire and fuse control?
OK...so that leaves us with the mystery of the throbbing speedo, the battery light still on and the funky transmission action. Is there one terminal or part of the harness that controls all of this? The worst part of it seems to be the transmission down shift gear action. normally when your riding along you can hit the little button on the left hand side of the gear shift and the car goes into low pull mode. Well now when it is NOT engaged it will not shift to higher gears. When it is engaged the indicator light is on, and the trans shift just as it normally should (as if the low drive were not engaged).
Could low trans fluid do this? Low oil or some other engine irregularity?
summary: battery light stays on, speedo pulsates from 20-24 mph, and the above transmission description.
advice and experience appreciated.
