problem with starter motor 700

Sounds to me like the shaft that the starter motor gear slides on is gunked up such that the starter gear can't move easily. When current is supplied to the starter, a solenoid engages the gear with the flywheel and then the starter motor turns. This all happens in a split second so if for some reason the gear is not engaging before turning you will hear it grinding against the flywheel (the load noise).

You could try taking the starter out and checking for easy gear movement on the shaft. Clean it up and see if that helps. Or just replace it with a rebuilt unit.

You should get this fixed ASAP or else you will be replacing the flywheel too (big $$$ at a shop - lots of labor).
