The continuing flame trap/ breather box issue. what to flush your engine with? 200

Just got back from the handy dandy local Volvo gurus to have my flame trap unplugged. When I picked the car up the guy said that the breather box, that the flame trap hooks up to was plugged as well, and he blew into it to unplug it, but he thought it might plug again, being so funky. This car is an 81 w/104000 on it, and has had reasonably good care. Should I run a quart of ATF in it, and change the filter 500-1000 or so, or what about running some BG Quikflush through it, or maybe going the Quickflush route and then running ATF for 3000-4000 miles while changing the filter often. The alternative is removing the intake, and taking everthing apart to clean it. Either way expensive or time consuming. Thanx in advance!
Steve
