How to test drive/check a 95' 940 wagon?

"1995 Volvo 940 $6,300 Blue 4-door Wagon, 56087 miles, AUTO 4SPD, 2.3L I4. "

The last of the 4-cylinder Volvos sold in the US. It's a simple car, the mileage is very low, and there's nothing negative about it.

"RWD, Air Conditioning, Cruise Control, Power Steering, Anti-Lock Brakes, Power Brakes, Dual Air Bag Restraints, AM/FM Stereo Tape, Power Antenna, Child Seat (1), Velour/Cloth Seats, Power Windows, Power Mirrors, Power Door Locks, Fog Lights, Tachometer, Intermittent Wipers, Rear Window Defroster, Rear Window Wiper"

Yeah, yeah, all standard stuff. Make sure when you drive it, that all the gauges work as expected. Dashboard electricals are something of a weak spot. Make sure the warning lights go out, or get in writing that the dealer will fix whatever is needed to make them work right, ESPECIALLY if you see an "ABS" light or an "SRS" light staying on after starting. "SERVICE" light is nothing to worry about, but "CHECK ENGINE" needs attention.
Expect the power antenna to be broken. It's cheap to fix if the motor still works. If it's ok, that's a bonus. Pay attention to the way it stops when yo're going fast. Warped rotors are common on all 700's and 900's. This is really about the simplest modern Volvo you can find, so I wouldn't expect much for problems. The engine is good for at least 6 times the mileage on it now. Yes, I mean > 300K miles. Your mechanic can get it on the lift and look for oil leaks- but I wouldn't expect any with a car this young. The only other "unknown" is the possibility that the car's been in an accident. Your mechanic should be able to tell you if he sees any signs of that. Be wary of any car with mismatched paint, or evidence of a replaced quarter-panel or complete front end etc.
Good luck, sounds like you found a good one, at a reasonable price.
