ZF transmission OK if NEVER reved in Por N

The reason the ZF was used was because it is very strong and could handle the torque and vibration of the diesel. It has a "flaw" in that the clutches don't fully release in P and N if the car has been driven just prior to shifting into P or N. If you NEVER rev the engine with the transmission in P or N it will last forever! My wife's 325is BMW has the same transmission. (We found out the hard way. Seems there is a warning out to inspection stations about it.)

BTW, the attachment of the transmission to the engine requires a different bell housing than the gas engines. One should get the transmission with the engine.
