rad/oil cooler question 900

My car is a 92-960 with 190 000 km. Is there a way to tell if the rad is going wrt. to the tranny cooler or the engine cooling component since either one will get me stranded. My rad seems in mint condition from the outside. I plan on doing a 3000 mile trip, some hilly terrain should I change the rad?
