No FM Radio??? 700 1986

Yet another problem with the radio,

The radio in my 1986 740 GLE has failed again. It already fades in and out while driving and the volume gets lower and louder without adjustment, but no I have totally lost FM radio. I was driving to work and the radio just faded to noise. I noticed that the orange light on the radio to signify a channel was not on, it's as if I lost the signal to all FM stations or something.
By the way, AM works fine.
Anyone have any clue about this one???
