Further to the "no full beam" saga - I now have no dipped beam :o( Will be playing "swap the switch" between the 940 and the 740 today - anything rather than try and remove that bl**dy relay tucked away in amongst the computers and gadgets.
But, for it`s next trick... got home last night, pulled up the handbrake and PERTWANGGG - snapped cable. After a quick recce undernath with a torch, I found that the cable to the offside (as in the RHS from the back of the car) had snapped at the pivot, leaving all the cable laying neatly along the rear axle to the brake and just it`s connector in the pivot. It had obviously rusted / chafed through.
Anyway - it`s obvious what needs to be done, but the question is, how hard is it to do? Has anyone done one of these, and is it as big a PITA as it looks?Or, as an alternative to dismantling the back end, whats the thoughts on the feasability of grabbing a donor cable by cutting it near the brake, fitting it to the pivot, and splicing the two good ends together using a bolted tube, or even a judicious spot of MIG welding?
Any thoughts / ideas?
