Testing turbo shaft play, a little is ok? Play in tubo shaft; a test 740 turbo/mitsubishi

Subject: My 89 740 with a mitsubishi turbo. I have 4 turbo 745's now so i have some to check against each other. This is a little test i devised while getting ready to install a re-worked engine.
I wanted to make sure the turbo had plenty of lube to make it thru the initial start up so I stole my wifes turkey baster and dripped some oil in to the oil in side on the turbo ( I un attached the "banjo bolt") and low and behold the small amount of play in the shaft was gone!!
So I guess it is true that some play in OK , this play will be corrected by the film of oil that the bearing rides on. Kind of a cool little experiment i thought.
dave in Michigan ( god i hope it starts!!)
