New(er) Volvo? 200 1978

Hi

I've had 2 Volvos. A 1974 164 Auto. Presently have a 1980 244 manual carb a/c.

I'm thinking of moving it on - engine compression is down, needs a fair bit of other work including rust. I'm also in Australia.

Love the 244 - it's solid, reasonably easy to work on (some exceptions here!!).

What have other owners found with newer models. I'm thinking of a late model 740 Wagon or an early 850 Wagon.

Are they as reliable and solid as the oldies? What about working on them? - easy or impossible because of so much technology?

thanks

Alan
