Oil is coming out from behind the timing belt cover....possible causes? 200

Guess #1 -- bad cam seal.

Guess #2 -- plugged up PVC system (flame trap, et. al). Excessive crankcase pressure can build and push oil past weak (but working) seals. Look also for a dripping rear main seal.

If your '85 is a non-turbo, then it has the B230F with the big plug in the back of the head. Be aware that excessive crankcase pressure can eventually pop that seal outto the head. And then you'll have a substantial leak. (BTDT in my '86.) You can feel for this by simply reaching behind the head. You can also fabricate (for $0) and install (for the price of two cheap bolts) a simple retaining strap to secure the plug.

Also behind the belt cover is the intermediate shaft seal (identical to the cam seal) and the front main engine seal at the crank. It's often good practice to replace all three seals at the time you replace the t-belt. 150k miles would be the perfect interval for a belt, 3 seals, tensioner, and maybe a water pump. (Belt interval is 50k miles.)
