electrical woes/driver side brake lights '88 245

Clean up the three ears on that socket real well. Use a fine file or sandpaper to get corrosion off. Make sure there's no corrosion inside the socket, if you find any, scrape it clean.
There should not be any corrosion on the taillight socket. I know it's tough to get into the hole it lives in, but if you can't see it or you see corrosion and can't get in to clean it off, you may have to pull the taillight completely and clean everything up.
Also, if the bulb is coming out white or cracked - you have water in the taillight. Usually this is a sedan problem but wagons get it too. Try drilling a very small (3/32) hole into the lens at the bottom outside corner.
Dry out inside light with air, hair dryer, or paper towels.
Make sure all fuses are ok too, though I don't think this is the problem today.
