ignition coil.wires, plugs and distributor (cap & rotor). I had similar porblems on both my 90 BMW and Volvo. On the bimmer, it turned out to be the wires and on the Volvo it was a combo of wires and coil. The spark just wasn't strong at the plug. You could even smeel the unburned fuel in the exhaust fumes!
