engine swapping 700

This would be a REALLY big job. Don't even attempt it unless you have a COMPLETE donor car.

And for what gain? A B230FT has 187hp and performance can be improved quite a bit. The B6304 (correct nomenclature for the I-6 on the US-spec 960) has 207 hp and there is almost zilch for it, performance-wise.

Could you make the swap work? Yes, with a lot of time and money.
Is there any compelling reason for it? No.

I believe, if you have to ask your mechanic for this advice, your skills may not be up to the task. You would be venturing deeply into unchartered territory, and would most likely need welding, fabrication, and machinist skills. Not to mention a TON of automotive skills and tools. Oh yes, and electrical and electronic skills as well.

I wouldn't try it on a bet.
