VOLTAGE GAUGE COMPATIBILITY 700

Bricksters,

I was wondering if the voltage gauge from a 1985 740 will fit into a 1989 740 dash assembly? The little 1.5" square (size wise) looks the same on the outside but I do not want to pull my own dash to find out/fry something in the process.

However, the outlay of the speedo units are visually different on the outside. The tach is is in a different place and the 1985 unit compared to the 1989 unit. Plus the '85 has a tiny clock in another of those little square zones on the one side of the speedo unit. However, I was thinking that as long is there is a voltage source the voltage gauge should work or am I saddly mistaken?

Thanks in advance.

Tim
