Coolant in #3 200 1984

OK,,,

Finally able to narrow the troubleshooting on my 84 Turbo intercooled wagon.

- Dead #3 cylinder at cold start up
- Two minutes after warm up, cylinder starts firing; runs fine rest of day
- Pulled #3 plug when motor was stone cold this AM
- Sure enough, plug #3 is wet with coolant
- All along, it's been losing trace amounts of coolant
- No vapor in tailpipe; no emulsion in oil

Best case = headgasket?
Worst case = cracked head?

I haven't looked in Robert Bentley yet and I will

For those with recent experience on pulling a turbo head and headgasket r&r;
Does the turbo/manifold come off with the head; or stay in engine bay?

What else do I need to know (minefields) before I get into this?

Thanks!

PS, any proponents out there of trying a stop-leak additive first? My father long ago had a NEW mid-80s Cadillac and it was part of its dealer service to add a stop-leak compound in the coolant to better seal the aluminum heads to the iron block. It also worked on an old Chevy truck I had with a freeze fracture in the head. I know, the purists may balk, but then again,,,

Thanks again

Robert
