I'm a Volvoholic 200 1985

Well, it's official, my addiction has started, my collection now numbers 2. Dragged home a $130 '85 244 today. The body is great, NO rust except for around the radio antenna and the bottom of the spare tire well. It's pretty clear what happened there. The floor pans are super clean. Not a spec of rust seen when I pulled up the carpets for inspection. It's a GL so I've got power everything, sunroof and 14 inch alloys. The interior is wonderful except for a few minor 'modifications' from the previous owner. Engine sadly appears to be shot. Lots of water in the oil, none in the radiator. Owner said it ran but made a bad noise. I took his word for it. I think I'll be in the market for a used 230 short block and probably a head as well but I want to tear it apart to check first. The car is going to be a driver for my wife who strangly thinks that 244's look cool. I think for under $1000 I can probably get it running well with almost everything working. I could also just part it out and make a few dollars but the body is in such good shape I'd feel really bad crushing it. How many Volvos will I get before I decide it's too many?
