740 Turbo engine 'drumming' noise at speed

1. Is there anyway to test for an exhaust leak at the manifold before I endure that pain? I have the ductwork removed from the torbo and find oil soaking everything. But the turbine spins by hand smoothly, so, I don't think it is the problem.

It is a Garrett. Could not identify the model. (253 A/R ???) Water-cooled.

2. Engine was out of oil. Crankcase breathing system clogged so oil blowing out the oil cap and separator box.

Thanks.
