740 Speedo Woes 700

My wife's '91 740 speedo just fizzled out. It kind of fluttered up and down a bit then just quit. The ododmeter and trip odometer still work but the speedo dial just rests at '0'. Any suggestions what I need to check to correct this? I'd hate for her to get a speeding ticket. 'Course she's a petite little redhead and even when stopped never seems to get ticketed. Hmmm.
