MORE COOLING SYSTEM WOES

So I got the radiator replaced and now the water pump seems to be shot, but I want to make sure before I hand over the cash te purchase a new one. Here are the symptoms:

-Loss of coolant, obviously leaking around the pump.
-Squeeling when idling (I had thought that this was a belt, which I suppose it could still be - is it likely that it is the pump making the sqeeling?)

Is it possible that it is just a leaky gasket or seal, or am I correct in thinking that the noise means I'll be spending 100 bucks and an afternoon to replace it?

Thanks,

Sam
