A philosophical question 700 1986

Say I was dumb enough not to double check a wire harness replacement and switched two plugs so that the idle control valve plug was put on the throttle position sensor and vice-versa. Does anyone know if this mistake would cause damage to the ECU? The car idles at 2500rpm. Already cleaned throttle body and idle control valve. The plug switch is the only other possibiltiy I can think of to lead to such a high idle where the adjustment screw makes no difference.
Any ideas?
