Thereby proving that more than one solution to the problem exists...

Umm assuming you don't want to do that, the likely course of action would be to pull both side covers off the console, and check for loose bolts... see if your glovebox is tight or if the front is falling off of it (common) ... pull off the black/chrome trim across the middle of the dash and the 2 blank panels between the speedo and the vents, and look for loose screws... make sure the radio is secured (screws on left side only, if your radio is up top) ... pull off bottom dash covers or remove glovebox and see if the wiper arms and linkage are loose. Alll pretty easy stuff to check, just a screwdriver or two needed.
