OD WOE'S 200 1989

My OD engages (automatic trans) and the OD light comes on at start-up. At least once or twice a week. It does not go off when I attempt to dis-engage, by pushing the OD thumb button. I have to drive it to my next distination with the OD on. Once I turn the car off and it sits for an hour or so the light will be off and the OD dis-engaged at the next start up, however this is not the case if I make a quick stop for only 5 or 10 minutes,it will still be on!! Driving me crazy..... Is it the OD thumb button? I took it off and cleaned it, just as I do my electric window switches, however it still has the same symptoms. I was told by an auto parts vender online that the 89 240 does not have a relay...Is this true? I guess if not my next step would be to replace the solenoid. Has this happened to anyone else???????
