why change? afraid of an OD? 200 1983

thanx for all the replies.. I'm wasn't sure about any advantages or disadvantages by doing the convertion.. I thought that maybe the m47 would be a better tranny but from the sounds of it, it isn't worth the swap.. I'll just stick with my m46 and make any repairs to it as necessary.. I will start with lubrication, possibly some high tech tranny fuid. I may have to do an overhaul on the OD as well.. Again thanx for the info..

Bye the way, I did find an m47 for $400 at a wrecking yard and it sounds like $300 is what I should expect to pay for it..

My m46 is working well.. The OD is a little troublesum at times but generally works. My tranny sometimes grinds when downshifting.. It only does this when driving slow in a gear and then downshifting.. Usually when drinving through the neighborhood in third gear at about 2000 rpm and then shifting down to second. If I'm cruising at highway speeds and come of the exit and downshift.. no grinding. It only tends to happen when driving through the neigborhood at 30mph or less.... I'll have to wait till I slow down to almost a stop and then I can get it into gear with no grind...

Thanx Again
Stefan
