I have installed one of these braces to my 71 145 and it works great. I noticed an imediate difference in the transmitting of torque to the rear wheels on take off. Yes the sheet metal is strong enough...it a tank err volvo, almost bullet proof. It does transmit engine vibration to the body of the car but so long at the car is running well its not an issue.
