Idle Adjustment on 89+ 700's 700

I'm trying to get my car to idle smoothly. I've read the FAQ's on pinching off the hose from the IAC and setting base idle. I have checked IAC with 2 wires to batt and it clicks like it should. Cleaned throttle body, adjusted TPS. Car (89 745T, 129K) runs excellent except for annoying 50-100 rpm up and down. In park or neutral car idles even worse. Also replaced some cracked hoses and 2 soft turbo hoses. Car has a 3 month old Bosch 02 sensor, and 4 months ago injectors were cleaned and tested. What else to check? Plug wires, catalytic, coolant temp sensor, fuel pressure reg.?
Why does my 89 have the black idle adjustment knob on the throttle body when the FAQ's and the archives say that from 89 on idle is controlled by ECU. Does this do anything?
Thanks in advance.
