Cold air intake: Is it worth it? 200 1984

I have an idea for my non-turbo '84 242. I figured out a way to relocate the battery to the trunk. In its place I could put a cone style filter surrounded by a heat sheild fabricated from sheetmetal essentially creating a rice rocket-like cold air intake. Now this is a fairly straight forward, easily understandable procedure, but it would take a lot of my time and effort. (Not to mention about $100 if I wanna do it right) Anyway, what I want to know is do you think it is a good idea, or just a total waste of my time? Even if it does have any change on performance, is it worth it? Any feedback is welcome and apreciated. Thanx in advance. -Logan
