Normal to be this noisy? 120-130

I think the noise is due to the age of the vehicle and the collective deterioration of many parts. We seem to recall these cars not to be that noisy, when we drove them new, but there have been monumental improvements in noise suppression on today's cars. Although I took great care to seal all firewall holes, install new rubber door seals and window channels, my Amazon is still noisy. I attibute this to the B16 engine (much noisier than today's computer timed and controlled engines), the proximity of the gearbox and gearshift and the driveshaft. I'm certain worn bushings, motor and transmission mounts add to the accumulation of noise.

My engine has a strange vibration / resonance at exactly 3,000 rpm. This occurs while accelerating or braking. If I disengage the clutch, while decelarating at this threshold, there is no vibration. So, I don't know if my symptoms point to something in the drivetrain or in the engine itself, or a combination of both. I do recall this same symptom on a B18 PV-544 that I owned in the late 60's. Someone suggested this vibration was normal and seemed to have something to do with the rear camshaft bearing. Has anyone hear of this problem?

Well, that's my opinion on noisy Amazons. I tend to ignore this minor fault when driving in the nice autumn colours.
