To Replace My A/C Compressor or not to replace, that is the question 200

I kept my old hardware and converted to R135a. Did it all for $100 (an A/C expert that I know did this). I hardly get any cold air (never ice-cold), and it has to do with the compressor. What you menationed about the pressure and all might be the cause. Anyhow, it's get it cool enough during summer, that I can live with. It doesn't get that hot up here in NY. I would recommend you change the compressor. It's your choice; spend the $400+ and drive around comfortably or use natural A/C (opened windows and sunroof).
