960 pwr seat problem with the adjuster track/gear? 900 1994

Our 94 965 driver side seat has a intermmitent problem with the right drive gear working and so the seat twists when it doesn't work. I felt the cable that drives the right side gear and it seems to be working. What does the cable from motor go to exactly and can I just clean this? Can the cable be replaced from the motor to the drive gear. I assume since it works sometime and I can feel the cable working that it may be this gear unit. I can tell there has been all sorts of crud and I'm sure sodas spilled into the track and drive unit. What's the easiest way to get to this thing? Any ideas. Thanks.
