1985 240DL WILL NOT START 200 1985

Starting at the switch: The red/black wire from switch terminal 15 runs directly to terminal 15 on the fuel pump relay. It is hot all the time and supplies power to energize the relay coil. The white/red wire from the relay terminal 31b goes to the coil (term. 1) and on to the ignition module (right side under hood). This wire supplies the negative to the relay coil and is controlled by the ignition module. It also supplies negative to the ignition coil. Since the car will run when you hold the relay closed, my guess is that this circuit is open somewhere between the coil and the fuel pump relay. Try running a jumper between coil terminal 1 and fuel pump relay 31b. If it cranks and runs, you need to replace this wire.
