What are these wires for?? 200 1985

1985 240DL...Appart from the starting problem I am attempting to solve I now have a new question....In checking for grounds I found two wires previously unknown to me...they are both protected together in that Volvo plastic loomb stuff...one of the wires is green and the other is black..each has a narrow female blade end attached. The wires come from through the firewall and are seperate from the large bundles of wire going thru the firewall in other locations nearby the brake booster. The wires were taped off but not very cleanly making me think that a previous owner may have disconnected them and that they were originally attached to something...they come into the engine bay roughly below the throttle body and are about long enough to reach anything on this side of the motor...where do they or should they go??? A quick look behind the dash shows that they seem to originate from a relay nearby the air conditioning switch??? somehow related?? The air conditioning works without them if this is truly what they are related to?? Hmmmm now back to finding out why my car wont start...

Garth
