Need a peace of mind 1: Bulb-out idiot light 200 1989

Car is a 1989 245DL.

Today I was stuck in stop-and-go traffic on the way to work (16 miles) and on the way home (16 miles). The yellow bulb-out warning light came on everytime I stepped on the brakes. The two brake taillights work, but the center third brake light doesn't. I assume it's a burnt out bulb and that may be causing the idiot light to come on everytime I depress the brake pedal.

I know this may be a silly question, but any dash lights gets me all paranoid. Does this dash light indicate or cause and damage to my car's electrical system or the overall mechanical function of my car? I don't think it does, but like I said this dash light makes me paranoid. Can I continue to drive my car with this bulb-out light coming on when the brake pedal is depressed? Not that I want to, but it's majoring annoying and mentally bothersome. I don't think I can get a bulb until next week, so that's why I'm asking if it's perfectly okay to drive with this dash light on and off. Thanks!
