Question for JetDriver about power steering, 900

I don’t know much about the inter construction of power steering units so this may be a stupid question. Is the reason for turning the steering wheel lock to lock simply to pump the fluid through the system OR to make sure that the entire rack gets a flush OR both. I am asking because I did the procedure like you describe but instead of turning the steering wheel I took the belt off and turned the power steering pump by hand. Does this purge the entire system? Or should I redo the procedure with the front wheels up to get a better purge?

Thanks, 92-960, 190 000 km
