struts and alignments 700 1985

Brick men and ladies if any,

I have a 1985 740 gle with 193k. I've owned car since 100k.

I want to know what the symptoms of worn struts would be and is it possible for the struts to last over 100k? I do alot of highway driving in the metro ny area on the jersey side whose roads are in good condition.

Is it wise or necessary to have an alignment at the same time as strut replacement?

What is a ball park price with labor for replacement struts? I'd like good bang for the buck but don't need to scream around corners of go off roading.
