Zerex Glysantin G-05 Coolant Now Available

Valvoline's new Zerex Glysantin G-05 coolant is now available in retail distribution. I found it at Autozone and I know from Valvoline that Kragers and Pep Boys will also stock this product. The coolant chemistry uses an organic acid similar to Dexcool but with the addition of a light silicate treatment that improves corrosion resistance for aluminum and solders. It is approved for Mercedes and most Ford/Chrysler products.

In looking at aftermarket coolants as substitutes for Volvo C, the G-05 formulation appeared to me to offer the best corrosion protection package for all Volvo cars including the all-aluminum engines. It has the advantages of Dexcool with the additional protection of silicates. Cost is $7.99 per gallon compared with $$$ for Volvo C.
