Thinking of buying a 740 700 1985

I looked at an 85 740 gle with 150,000 miles on it. The body and interior are just about perfect, the engine runs really well. It has a new radiator and A/C commpressor. The only problem with it is the transmission sometimes won't go into reverse or it slips in reverse. I looked at the fluid and it seems really dirty but it didn't smell burnt and I didn't see any clutch residue and it was working fine at the time. He is asking $600 for it. Do you guys think it is worth it? Do you think dirty fluid could be the culprit of the tranny problem?

Thanks for all your help,

Jeff in Phoenix
