showing hot after warm up--thank you 200

I posted a question here a couple of weeks ago regarding my '93 240 showing hot after warming up and being shut off for a few minutes. One of you recommended whacking the instrument cluster near the temp guage. My wife says "I don't know how valuable that forum is" upon hearing my telling a friend that he should check this place out if he has a problem with his Volvo. Well, I whacked the instrument cluster, and the guage hasn't gone past neutral since. Thank you.
