LSD for 744 700

I didn't twig to the "TrueTrac" brand name. Now I realize this is a "torsen" differential. Very high tech. Niiiice hardware.

Flipping around various Volvo web pages, I came across a note from Dave Barton that said that the TrueTrac would only work with the 1030 axle housing, but not with the 1031 (which I understand was the common unit for 700 turbos with automatics and 3.73 rear end ratios). Does your car have the 1030 or the 1031?

I would really like Dave Barton to be wrong about this 1030/1031 issue. Since I have the AW71, I'm afraid I have the 1031 in my car. So I'm betting that I would first have to put in a 1030 from a manual car (3.54 ratio), then get a new ring and pinion to bring me back up to 3.73 or 3.91, and THEN put in the TrueTrac. Yikes. Probably more trouble than it's worth, if my pessimistic analysis is justified.
