Actually your car is probably already wired for an under-hood starter button... at least all the 240's were... there was a wire and terminal that ran to nothing coming out of the grey junction box at the firewall near the intake manifold. So no it's not a stupid idea. Can't hurt to unplug the coil although you probably won't need to.
