headliner replacement tip 700 1989

For that particular car I ordered the IPD kit, which is 1/4" stuff, even on the sunroof. Since then I have bought the material and glue locally for about 1/2 the cost of the IPD kit. I just use 1/4" material from the local auto upholstery shop. I think it works fine although others on the board disagree with me. I use 3M general purpose adhesive in the aerosol cans, $10 each at Advance Auto Parts.

Also, in case it isn't obvious, I forgot to mention in my original write-up that I cut the board (with a razor blade) BEFORE trying to remove it from the car. This way you can very easily get it out without any unintentional breaking. First I had the board free and resting on the headrests (after removing all the trim), then I made the incision, then I removed the 2 pieces one at a time. Even then the front piece is still flimsy and fragile, especially around the mirror so handle with care. The incisions are as far back as possible, just before where the curve starts for the rear edge of the sunroof opening.
