iNSTALLING AFTERMARKET RADIO/CD PLAYER 900

I'm planning on purchasing an aftermarket radio for my wife's 93'940T wagon. My question, does the existing radio have integral amplifier or is there a remote mounted amp? If there is a remote amp, will I just need to bypass the amp and connect the proper speaker wires to the new radio? I will also need to install a face plate kit from what I understand. Any other special concerns I need to be aware of? Thanks for your help.
